Upon receiving the request, our team at Flying Doctors Nigeria quickly assessed Mr. Given’s condition and based on the information available, it was clear an Air Ambulance (AA) was ideal given his condition and urgent need for access to advanced medical care.

Consequently, our team immediately commenced all necessary clinical and aviation processes and was prepped for departure within a few hours. While enroute to Sao Tome for patient pick-up, our alarm center efficiently facilitated engagement with the preferred partner hospital in Abuja to secure a bed space for the patient.

On our AA team arriving Sao Tome, the patient appeared relatively stable but additional interventions were made to further stabilize him to help ensure a safe flight to Abuja. Airborne, patient remained stable and on arriving Abuja, our ground ambulance team that was already positioned on the tarmac received and transported him to the facility for further care.

Handover at the hospital was also seamless and our team maintained communications with the facility to ensure proper care was administered up until the patient was successfully discharged after a few days.
