Delivering unconventional support to help service the needs of our international partners, especially in unfamiliar terrain, remains one of the distinct factors that has helped position us as a preferred provider in Africa.

Spotlighting this capacity is a recent assistance case we successfully completed for an international insurance partner who required our support to verify the claims made by their member (Mrs Biola) regarding her loss of some personal possessions to a robbery attack.

Mrs Biola was embarking on a journey by road to a region located in the southeastern part of Nigeria to reunite with  her family when, on transit, she encountered an unfortunate incident of a robbery. According to her submission, her valuables were collected at the scene before she was allowed to continue her journey unharmed.

On arriving at her destination, Mrs Biola immediately reported the incident to a nearby police station and filed a police report, which she subsequently shared with her insurance to make reclaims. It was at this point that her insurance contacted us (Flying Doctors Nigeria) to help investigate the incident and verify the report.

Consequently, our team immediately reviewed all documentation provided to identify any inconsistencies and engaged our resource contact within the Nigerian police force to help locate the station where the report was filed and to verify the incident. About  24 hours later, our team working directly with the police station was able to establish the incident and confirmed the report was from the station in question.

Following this, we communicated our findings in a report to our client and the information was used to make a decision.

Our experience managing this case is one we value greatly as it not only exposed us to an unusual service scope but further showcased our unique ability to deliver on our promise of always being there to support our partners when it matters most.
