A few weeks ago, the Flying Doctors Team attended our first ‘resurrection party’ held at the lovely Ginger Tapa’s restaurant on Lagos Island in Nigeria.

It was hosted by a former patient who at just 30 years old, was given only a 5% chance to live, due to a medical emergency that could not be treated in Nigeria.

The Flying Doctors Nigeria Medevac team were able to evacuate her via air ambulance in just a few hours to a hospital abroad where her condition could be treated. However, for her to survive the six hour flight, her flight physicians required a great deal of expertise as well as state the art equipment for monitoring and treatment.

At the Flying Doctors our most senior flight physicians are always critical care specialist doctors with many hundreds of hours of air ambulance/ medevac experience. We are also the first company in the whole of Nigeria to purchase the baby pod, neonatal incubator designed with Formula 1 technology to keep the babies that we transfer warm and well.
